David E. Stanley has often said that being part
of Rock and Roll's first family was both a blessing and a
curse. Embraced by Elvis, who accepted David as a brother,
the young Stanley enjoyed wealth, privilege and prestige.
But as a result of his surrealistic circumstances, David also
struggled for identity and acceptance.
At the age of sixteen, David was introduced to life in the
fast lane when Elvis took him out of high school and made
David one of his personal aides and bodyguards. From 1972-77,
David's life was now filled with private jets, the best hotels
and elaborate homes as he toured the nation with the world's
hottest rock star. But beneath the glitter and glamour, David
also witnessed the tragic events and vices that led to Elvis's
untimely death at the age of 42.
Among the first to find his stepbrother's lifeless body on
August 16, 1977, David was deeply affected by watching a man
who had everything - self-destruct. Left with nothing but
a ninth grade education and faced with adversities that threatened
his own life, David found himself ill-equipped to cope with
the realities of day-to-day life.
In the years that followed, David struggled to overcome the
negative by-products of the Elvis years. Determined not to
suffer the same fate as his world famous stepbrother, David
defined his quest to triumph over adversity. By learning and
consistently employing a series of principles, he eliminated
his self-destructive habits, identified his gifts and made
extraordinary changes in his personal and professional life.
David moved from fear and isolation to international motivational
speaker, from a crippled self image to best selling author,
From the Shadows of the King to creator of Solutionary Dynamics.
David E. Stanley's powerful signature keynote of triumph
over adversity will make you laugh, make you cry and in the
end leave you standing on your feet inspired, challenged and
motivated to reach and maintain new levels of success in your
personal and professional life.
